2009 Miss Teen Canada-World Finalist

Honour Grad

Posted By Taylor18 ~ May 27, 2009 9:48AM

Hey everyone! Today I found out that I will be graduating from high school with honours! This means that from grades 10-12 I have been on the honour roll. So exciting!! Graduation is coming up so fast and before I know it I will be in university pursuing a career in nursing.

I think it is so important to work your hardest in school because your marks mean everything. Not only do they get you into a good university or college but they ensure you will have a job that can support yourself and your family later on in life.

-"The roots of true achievement lie in the will to become the best that you can become."- Harold Taylor

Thankyou!!

I would just like to take the time to say thankyou to a few important people in my life. I would not be able to compete in this pageant if it weren't for your love and support.

Thankyou so much for your support in everything I do. Mom and dad you have been amazing...you make me believe I can do anything I set my mind to. Softball-a fun and healthy activity

Posted By Taylor18 ~ May 26, 2009 2:12PM

Hey everyone! So this week started off with a bang...LITERALLY!! Both yesterday and today I played softball games with the girls team....and we won all of our games! I decided to make my blog about softball today because not only is it alot of fun, but it is great exercise!

I started off the first game as pitcher, a challenging, but fun position in the infield. As a  pitcher in softball your goal is to throw the ball underhand from the mound so that the ball makes an arc and lands on a white mat just behind home plate. Also, you must be very aware of the person batting because sometimes the ball gets hit straight at you! I ended up pitching a great game, only walking one person and striking out four. Oh, and in case you were wondering....no balls got hit at me(thankfully!).

In the second game I played short-stop, which is right in the middle of second and third base. This is where most of the action takes place, as it is a very common spot for right handed batters to hit. So whether it's stopping speeding balls on the ground or catching balls that were hit way up in the air, it is very likely that the person playing short stop will be using their baseball glove alot!  Just as I would have predicted, I did use my glove quite a bit. I'm not complaining though, it just makes the game more fun and interesting!"What about batting?" you are probably wondering right now. I love batting...it is my favorite part of the game. It requires both hand-eye coordination and core strength, which I think the gym has helped me alot with. The only tricky part about batting, and the part I have trouble with, is knowing which ball to hit. The goal is to hit a ball that would otherwise land on the mat and be called a strike. Sometimes though, it is very hard to judge if it will be a good ball to hit. Fortunately in the past two games I managed to choose some good pitches and hit past the infield.

Overall sofball is a great team sport. It is challenging at times, but so much fun and a great form of exercise. Girls softball teams are popular in Southern Alberta, and I hope in other parts of Canada as well. If your school doesn't have a softball team, I would recommend trying to start one. It's a blast!!

An Experience of a Lifetime!

Hey everyone, I'm Taylor Stronski, current Miss Teen Claresholm, Alberta and finalist for Miss Teen Canada-World 2009 being held in Toronto, Ontario! I'd like to start my first blog by telling you a bit about my experiences thus far and how I got into the pageant.

I had always loved watching pageants on T.V but never really imagined myself actually being up on that stage modelling a beautiful evening gown, or strutting the runway in a bathing suit. All that changed the first time I seen the advertisement for Miss Teen Canada-World on facebook. Standing at 5-4" I am not a very tall girl and at first I thought this might be a problem, but after visiting the site(
www.missteencanadaworld.com) I was excited to see that there was no height requirement! Better yet, I loved the idea that this pageant was based on beauty from the inside out, proudly promoting the phrase, " Be Your Own Kind Of Beautiful". I sent in my application and prayed that I would be one of the amazing Albertan girls chosen for the chance to stand out and make a difference.

That moment arrived on Febuary 21st and 22nd when I was chosen to compete at the Miss Teen Alberta-World Pageant. I had the chance to learn how to dance from a famous coreographer, recieved lessons on how to walk, interview skills, and I met a group of fantastic girls of whom I have created new friendships with. The Pageant show consisted of evening gown, swimwear, and public speaking where you told the judges and audience what your platform is. Of course, I can't forget the most excting part of the pageant....the CROWNING!! I remember waiting nervously, until my name was called. It was the most amazing feeling ever.

Since the pageant I have been hard at work promoting my platform of a healthy and active lifestyle by helping to recruit girls for the school softball team, being the team captain and fundraising for the Relay for Life Cancer run coming up in June, and fundraising for the Free the Children Charity. I have also made appearances and signed autographs at Bells and Bows Bridal shop in Lethbridge, Alberta for graduation events.

Being a Miss Teen Canada-World finalist has been such a great experience this far and i am so glad that I got into it. It has been a life changing experience so far and will continue to be as the national pageant gets closer, and as I continue my reign as Miss Teen Claresholm, Alberta 2009. I will proudly represent my town, my province, and my country in July.

Please stay tuned! I have so much more planned for the end of may and the month of June!

I absolutely love this quote: “Begin doing what you want to do now. We are not living in eternity. We have only this moment, sparkling like a star in our hand - and melting like a snow flake” - M.B. Ray- This is the quote I thought of when I first applied to Miss Teen Canada-World. I took a chance and it has turned out to be a life changing experience. If I could give advice to anyone it would be to live for the moment. Live for today. We have only this life to achieve our goals and dreams. So don't wait.....do what you want to do now!<3
